GoDaddy suspended my auctions account
During the recent conversation about Dispute.com domain name, that ended up sold to the next highest bidder. I have to say that I experienced the same problem this month.
I was on vacation abroad first week of August. Since I am always connected and I receive notifications on my phone for all GoDaddy auctions that are on my watch list. I bid on one of the domain names that I liked a lot and I won the auction, using the GoDaddy Investor app.
I got excited because it was a great domain two tech words in .com. Thinking, ok when I get back to the hotel later I will pay for the domain, so when I am back from my vacation it will be already transferred to my account.
OK, sounds like a good plan, but something happened. My son got fever the same day and it was getting worse during the night. We get to the local hospital for examinations and there he was put on antibiotics. I didn’t get much sleep the next two nights and as you can already know I totally forgot about the GoDaddy domain auction.
On the third day I received an email from GoDaddy that says, my account is suspended and they notified the second highest bidder. It was 3-4 am local time and I wasn’t sleeping.
I called their international phone number to get more info and solve this problem. I was put on hold and the assistant said the waiting time is around 15 minutes. With roaming charges abroad calling international phone number, this was going to cost me a lot. I tried again later and the waiting time was 30 minutes this time.
After that I tried their online chat support. The support staff was very cooperative and was going to help me, but suddenly he said can’t do anything and I need to email auctions@godaddy.com to solve this problem.
This was my last option and I emailed their support, but they replied within 48 hours. The winning auction was lost for sure. I was looking to save my auctions account. Back and forth with no so fat replies they fixed my account and I needed to pay $10 admission fee.
At the end after few days my son was ok, my auctions account was enabled again and everything ended positively 🙂
I am sharing this story with you, because the people are making judgements, but you don’t know what really happened. Sometimes the cash may not be a problem, but something else could happened.
